چکیده

In this paper, a Delay Tolerant Network environment is considered where the source is in full control of the two-hop spreading mechanism by setting key parameters such as the number of copies allowed to be spread in the network and the delay bound of the messages. The introduced analysis allows for a differentiation between the source of the message and the intermediate nodes (in terms of e.g. transmission power, speed or cooperation degree). Analytical expressions for the cumulative distribution function (cdf ) of the delivery delay and the induced overhead are extracted, taking into account the fact that the source node may continue spreading copies after the message delivery. In addition, a fairly accurate approximate expression for the cdf of the delivery delay is also derived and validated through simulations. 1

Energy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks

Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...

Scalable Schedule Routing and Minimizing Delay in Tolerant Networks

There are many routing strategies for message delivery in Delay Tolerant Networks. Among them Multicopying routing strategies have been considered the most applicable DTNs. Epidemic routing and two-hop forwarding routing are the two best approaches of DTN. These two approaches belong to multicopying routing strategies as they allow multiple message replicas to increase message delivery delay. T...

Competition and Cooperation between Nodes in Delay Tolerant Networks with Two Hop Routing

This paper revisits the two-hop forwarding policy in delay tolerant networks (DTNs) and provides a rich study of their performance and optimization which includes (i) Derivation of closed form expressions for the main performance measures such as success delivery probability of a packet (or a message) within a given deadline. (ii) A study of competitive and cooperative operations of DTNs and de...

Performance Comparison of Four Unicast Routing Schemes in DTNs

Disruption tolerant network(DTN)s have been proposed to provide data communications in challenging network scenarios where an instantaneous end-to-end path between a source and destination may not exist. In this paper, we focus on comparing the performance of four recently proposed unicast routing schemes, namely (i) Multihop Routing with Custody Transfer (MRCT), (ii) Two-Hop Relay with Erasure...

Design an Efficient Community-based Message Forwarding Method in Mobile Social Networks

Mobile social networks (MSNs) are a special type of Delay tolerant networks (DTNs) in which mobile devices communicate opportunistically to each other. One of the most challenging issues in Mobile Social Networks (MSNs) is to design an efficient message forwarding scheme that has a high performance in terms of delivery ratio, latency and communication cost. There are two different approaches fo...
